ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Field Solar Supervisor will oversee SunCommon’s internal ground and roof top installation crews. This position will supervise crew leads and will be responsible for ensuring that SunCommon’s installation crews work efficiently while achieving high quality results.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
This position will:
- Work with staff to complete projects in an efficient manner that ensures high quality results.
- Communicate job status and estimated completion time on daily basis with staff and customers via phone, email, CRM, or in-person.
- Oversee internal installation staff and monitor individual and crew installation quality.
- Support installs as needed including direct installation work.This includes installing module array interconnect wiring, implementing measures to disable arrays during installation, and accurately laying out and installing solar racking systems per design on ground and roof mounted systems.
- Ensure that photovoltaic (PV) systems are installed in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics, and instructions.
- Keep up-to-date on latest codes and solar installation techniques, and apply new knowledge to the job.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position will meet the following requirements:
- 5 or more years of solar installation experience, preferably as a crew lead or supervisor, scheduling and managing team.
- Experience building teams to work collaboratively together to build trust and accomplish tasks.
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving of your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Experience inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Experience setting up monitoring for solar arrays.
- Experience analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Experience developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
- Experience running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment
- Experience determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
- Experience providing guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and provide coaching and mentoring to help team members improve their knowledge or skills.
- Ability to travel across Vermont to perform installations.
