Job Description

SunCommon operates a 6000 ft2 warehouse to support Vermont-wide solar installations.  The warehouse space and processes are in constant development towards efficiency and cost savings. SunCommon’s Warehouse Manager will direct all activities in the facility necessary to operate and support an efficient warehouse. This person will perform a variety of management, administrative as well as physical functions to ensure the timely and accurate loading and unloading of commodities that transit the warehouse. This position will collaboratively work with the team to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and controls are maintained within the warehouse.

We’re looking for someone who can quickly adapt to the solar industry and be able to make informed decisions on product changes and issues that arise in the installation process.  The Warehouse Manager will be the first point of contact for installation crews who need different/additional/replacement parts, and should be able to act quickly and provide competent solutions to these issues.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Manages organization and layout of warehouse space, warehouse outdoor space, and waste management, heavily focusing on efficiency.
  • Ensures cleanliness and safety of the warehouse.
  • Manage warehouse team’s hours and schedules.
  • Maintains forklifts and other warehouse equipment, including safe battery maintenance.
  • Manages incoming deliveries (drivers, timing, space, etc).  Quickly and accurately communicates inventory levels and item receipts with Inventory Manager.
  • Trains new warehouse staff, maintains training documentation, and helps lead career development for warehouse staff.
  • Acts as final check for picklists and designs before orders are fulfilled, signs off on complete orders before delivery.
  • Liaise daily with Project Management team on goals and expectations for daily order fulfillment, delivery details, and schedules.
  • Works closely with project managers to manage and fulfill daily material requests.
  • Understands installation components, how they are used, what is needed, identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Executes continuous process improvement with regards to trailer processing, mistake tracking, request handling, workflow, access, efficiency, and safety.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Effective time management skills
  •  Operates in collaborative, team atmosphere – giving and taking feedback to improve personal performance as well of that of the entire business.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of three years relevant warehouse management experience
  • Experience in the solar industry
  • Must be highly organized and process-oriented
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills related to people and inventory
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Desire to stay on the leading edge of the solar and renewable energies industry
  • Ability to drive a car, clean driving record and maintenance of that clean driving record
  • Demonstrated commitment to social change
  • Familiarity with OSHA process and standards
